After my recent visit to Kerala, I am sure of one thing. When the Mughal rulers called Kashmir to be a heaven on Earth, they forgot to visit Kerala. But the good part is that people now aptly refer to Kerala as the ‘God’s Own Country’.
Without any exaggeration, I can say that it is exactly how it feels to be in this blissful place. And I am now going to give you just 5 reasons as to why you should visit Kerala and I am confident that you will start planning the trip even before you reach the end of this article.
1. The Unwavering Weather
One of the best reasons of visiting Kerala is that it easily falls into your plans as per your holidays. When it comes to best time to visit Kerala, you can visit it anytime of the year without worrying about the weather as it remains constant between 29ºC and 33ºC. With the weather being stable all round the year, it is possible to get pleasure from everything this state offers at any time we wish. Unlike some places that can only be enjoyable during certain seasons, Kerala welcomes you with all its scenic beauty whenever you desire.
2. The Kerala Backwaters
The tranquility from a ride in houseboats in the Kerala Backwaters will provide you a path to connect with yourself which gets lost in our busy city lives. The view landscape with the placid backwaters, surrounded by palm trees and rich green rice fields is worth a thousand diamonds and fit for anyone on an adventure trip or a romantic holiday. It serves the purpose just right. It is an experience you’ll never forget.
3. The Staggering Beach Views
The picturesque white and golden sand beaches and mesmerizing blue Arabian Sea is a delightful experience. To add to the fun and thrill, the beaches offer several indulging activities like parasailing, diving or swimming in the enthralling sea and when feeling exhausted, relaxing, sun bathing & the fresh coconut water is the way to go. There are many pristine beaches in Kerala like Kovalam, Varkala, Kappad, Payyambalam but the South India’s only drive-in beach – Muzhappilangad, should certainly be on the top of your list as a must visit.
4. The Delectable Food
Kerala is world famous for its wealth of spices & hence it’s quite obvious that the food is just superb. Different splendid dishes with a delicious mix of various spices served traditionally on the banana leaf makes it a unique.
Most vegetarian dishes are rice based as rice being the staple diet of this place. Though we all have tasted the south Indian dishes in restaurants, etc in different cities, but the same dishes taste completely different here. The flavor of dishes like Ghee Dosa, Tangy Rasam, etc. feels just amazingly better!
Several meat and sea food dishes cooked in coconut gravy are also prepared and have exceptional reviews.
5. The Magnificent Nature
Last but not the least, Kerala is an album with the pictures of some of the world’s best landscapes with lush green forests, beautiful hill stations, sparkling beaches, mesmerizing backwaters and the tea plantations to name a few. This diversity also ensures a large variety of flora and fauna. If you spend a couple of adventure filled days here, you can be lucky to witness the Asian Elephants, the Bengal Tiger or the Indian Hornbill too. It is a place that no nature lover will ever like to miss travelling to.
With these 5 reasons, I think you must have already started calculating days, clothes to carry and budgets etc for your trip to this incredibly gorgeous place. The paradise like feeling you will experience in this exotic land is beyond words.
