Noel Morata of Travel Photo Discovery
-On staying ahead of the game one social media platform at a time and staying connected within the blogging community.
Q: How would you describe your blog to a person that has never visited it before?
Travel Photo Discovery is a photo inspired website that is at the crossroads of adventure, culture, luxury and food discoveries from around the world. The site shares helpful tips, must-visit destinations and inside stories of many popular places to visit around the world.
Q: What made you decide to create a blog?
I’ve been an active traveler since my early childhood and photographing amazing culture, history, markets and so many fascinating places had always been something that has come easily to me – this is why I decided to document my travels and interests and create an audience base that loves to do the same thing.
Q: Was there a moment when you thought, “I could do this professionally”? If so, what triggered that desire/realization?
Well I am a professional photographer and I always thought that this would be a great outlet to feature my work, inspiration, and a way to monetize the website to create more opportunities in the travel space
Q: What fuels your passion for creating content?
Traveling to new destinations opens up so many opportunities to see things differently and present my own unique viewpoint and be as creative as I can – it’s a great medium to experiment and present a professional presentation.
Q: Are there any blogs or publications that you follow closely? What makes them successful in your opinion?
Yes, I look at a variety of blogs in the travel, food, lifestyle and photography space to get inspired and look at unique viewpoints and story lines.
Q: What has been the biggest challenge in maintaining a successful blog?
Blogging is always changing and new social media platforms evolve making it necessary to keep on top of technology and interest in presenting new formats, technology-driven content and long-term focus on where the site is headed
Q: What is your favorite post that you created? Why?
I actually have many. Most are the road trips I take to national parks around the world. I love the independence to stop and go as I please and explore places on my own time and pace which really is the best way to travel and absorb a new destination.
Q: How much does social media influence your writing? This might be a commentary on the posts you read or the way that you tailor your posts for those channels.
Social media does take up a big portion of sharing my stories especially in the most focused areas of Pinterest and Google+ which draws in more views to that particular post I am trying to promote
Q: What is your favorite social media channel? Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, other? Why?
My favorite channels are Facebook and Pinterest because they have a way of creating more engagement and more clicks to the website.
Q: Do you have any last piece of advice for aspiring bloggers?
Keep learning but take things one step at a time, because it can be overwhelming. Master a few social media platforms at a time that you can maintain regularly and go to conferences or join groups to be more active networking and learning new things in the blogging space and your specific niche.
Q: Lastly, what is something that you could share with us that we wouldn’t learn from reading your blog?
I love to pack things in and see as much as I can in a place with limited time, it’s always amazing to experience something new and really put yourself outside of your comfort zone.
Thank you, dear reader, for stopping by! And stay tuned for next week’s Bloggers’ Corner feature!
